Nick Cave and Warren Ellis have released a new album.
'Carnage' was recorded by the bandmates in just a few weeks during the recent coronavirus lockdown, and marks the first time the pair have released a record together as a duo — soundtracks and Bad Seeds back catalogue aside.
The album, which Cave announced in January, consists of eight tracks and clocks in at 40 minutes. It's digitally out now via Goliath Records, with a physical release set to follow on May 28. Cave describes it as, “a brutal but very beautiful record nested in a communal catastrophe.”
“Making Carnage was an accelerated process of intense creativity,” added Ellis. “The eight songs were there in one form or another within the first two and a half days.”
In 2020, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds cancelled their UK, European and North American tours due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. They were set to hit the road in support of 2019's 'Ghosteen'. Cave, meanwhile, also released 'Idiot Prayer - Nick Cave Alone at Alexandra Palace' in November. Read our five-star review here.
