Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip has shared details of his sixth solo album.
Composed mostly in enforced isolation, the follow-up to 2018's 'Beautiful Thing' is called 'Silence' and will arrive on September 17 via AWAL.
The 12-track release opens with the expansive piano-based lead single, Dying In Heaven, a tranquil track that's guided by Taylor's quavering heart-wrenching vocals. Head below to check out the accompanying cinematic video, directed by Brian DeRan. Discussing the record, Taylor said:
"I'm not religious myself, but the songs which deal with the idea of gospel music or religion, look at it from a distance (rather like the shaky hand-held lens through which we follow the action in Pasolini's Gospel According To Matthew) and try to uncover its influence on music and on people in desperate circumstances."
Hot Chip, meanwhile, released their seventh LP, 'A Bath Full Of Ecstasy', in 2019. They're due to headline this year's End Of The Road festival, which returns to Larmer Tree Gardens in Salisbury in September.
'Silence' tracklist:
1. Dying in Heaven
2. Death of Silence
3. House of the Truth
4. Violence
5. Strange Strings
6. Thylacine
7. I Look To Heaven
8. Melting Away
9. Consequences
10. You’ve Changed Your Life
11. Silence
12. Wollongong Waves
