Kurt Vile Covers Run Run Run For New LP 'I'll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute To The Velvet Underground'

Kurt Vile and his band The Violators have unveiled a take on The Velvet Underground's Run Run Run.
The cover was recorded by Vile while touring with The Violators a few years ago, and serves as the first taster of the star-studded 'I'll Be Your Mirror: A Tribute to the Velvet Underground & Nico', due out on September 24.
Unfurling around a hypnotic guitar-driven groove, the track stays pretty faithful to the original cut. It will appear alongside 10 other reworks from the likes of Michael Stipe, Iggy Pop and Matt Sweeney, St. Vincent and Thomas Bartlett, and Sharon Van Etten with Angel Olsen, among others.
It was executive produced by the late Hal Willner — a frequent collaborator and friend of Lou Reed — and marks the last record he worked on before his death in 2020.
