Deerhoof Announce 18th Studio Album 'Actually, You Can', Share First Single Department Of Correction

Deerhoof have shared details of their 18th studio album.
'Actually, You Can' will be released on October 22 via Joyful Noise Recordings, following up 2020's 'Future Teenage Cave Artists' and their covers record 'Love-Lore'.
Self-produced by the ever-prolific band, the LP is heralded by the frantic first single, Department Of Corrections, a noisy, experimental yet melodic offering. It comes with an equally rowdy Jess Joy-directed stop motion animated video, featuring cutouts of the band members' faces in famous religious paintings.
According to them, the song "is about all the marvellous mysteries of life that don't add up on a ledger sheet or figure into an AI algorithm. It's about Judas going electric. It's about how the human species itself is meaningless without a planet to live on. How we vastly outnumber our would-be masters if only we could get organised."
Touching on the video, they added: "The video rhetorically questions authority. Who runs the show? A dying sun? Mushrooms? In wondering why we put limitations on our freedom, we realise that the people we have put in charge also do not know."
