Converge and Chelsea Wolfe have shared another single from their anticipated collaborative record.
Following Blood Moon, Coil serves as the second preview of 'Bloodmoon: I', due out on November 19 via Epitaph.
Opening with a slow-burning, brooding acoustic guitar progression, the track evolves into a dark, towering post-metal epic that combines impassioned vocals from Converge vocalist Jacob Bannon and ethereal whispers from Wolfe. Bannon commented:
"Coil turned out to be one of my favourite songs I’ve ever been a part of,” says vocalist Jacob Bannon. ‘There is an infectious, slow build that ends up becoming theatrical in tone. Lyrically, it was a true collaboration, with all of us expanding on each other’s ideas as they came to be. I believe Chelsea’s vocal was the starting point in that for this one.
"Kurt really pushed vocal harmonies to a new level as well. Encouraging many of Steve’s ideas while we were in the studio tracking together. This one really has every one of us firing on all cylinders creatively.”
The Kurt Ballou-produced LP marks Converge's first full-length since 2017's 'The Dusk in Us'. A vinyl release will follow on June 24, 2022, via Deathwish.
