Slipknot Return With First New Song In Two Years The Chapeltown Rag

Slipknot have released their first new song in two years, The Chapeltown Rag.
The brutally heavy track is expected to feature on the Iowa metal icons' as-yet-unannounced seventh studio album. Vocalist Corey Taylor commented:
"It's a punisher man. It's classic Slipknot. And it's frenetic. But lyrically, it's coming from a point of talking about the various manipulations that can happen when social media meets media itself. And the different ways that these manipulations can try to pull us in different directions, in the fact that we're all becoming addicts to it, which is very, very dangerous."
M. Shawn Crahan, aka band member Clown, added: "The Chapeltown Rag facilitates a sort of mindset that you're going to like: it's along the barnburner side of things."
They'll perform the song live for the first time tonight (November 5) at the band's own Knotfest L.A., which also marks their first headline show at a stadium. It'll take place at the Bank of California Stadium, with support from Bring Me The Horizon, Killswitch Engage, Fever 333, and Code Orange, among others. The gig also serves as Slipknot's first livestream event, airing at 6pm PT. Head here for tickets.
They're due to play a string of European festivals in July and August 2022 but no UK shows have been confirmed.
Slipknot's latest album was 2019's 'We Are Not Your Kind', their first UK number one record in 18 years.
