Halsey (pictured), Sam Fender, Griff, and Rina Sawayama have been confirmed to play at the NME Awards 2022.
They'll perform at the ceremony at London's O2 Academy Brixton on March 2, sponsored by social music creation platform BandLab. Further acts are to be announced over the coming weeks.
Pop giant Halsey will also accept the Innovation Award during the evening, following the release of her 2021 album, 'If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power'. In a forthcoming interview with NME, she said:
"The NME Awards seems more about a celebration of a bunch of people who are contemporaries rooting each other on. I don’t get many opportunities to celebrate with my peers and look around and be like, ‘Wow, this was a great year for music’ and that’s why we do this – we love it, y’know?"
Sam Fender put out his second album, 'Seventeen Going Under', in October. He's currently nearing the end of a run of dates and will return to the road in the spring.
Griff, meanwhile, will also tour the UK next March, supporting her debut mixtape, 'One Foot In Front Of The Other', released in June. Sawayama put out her debut album, 'SAWAYAMA', in 2020. She added: "I can’t wait to perform at the NME Awards next year - it’s such an honour to be asked and I am beyond excited."
The nominations, along with more live performances will be revealed in due course. Tickets to the event are on sale now.
