Having already released Funny Girl and Q4, the singer-songwriter has unveiled Goodbye Mr. Blue, the latest preview of his upcoming fifth studio album, 'Chloë and The Next 20th Century', out on April 8 via Sub Pop and Bella Union.
Unfurling around a soft, plucked acoustic guitar melody, the track is reminiscent of Nilsson's Everybody's Talkin' and finds Josh Tillman understated and mournful, buoyed by pedal steel and a swell of strings. Press play below.
He'll celebrate the record with a series of low-key UK in-store performances, including Crash Records in Leeds on April 4, Rough Trade East on April 9, and Rough Trade Bristol on April 11. On release day, he'll perform two sets at Banquet Records in Kingston. Tickets go on general sale at 9am on March 11.
Tillman will also play a show at Cardiff's St. David's Hall on April 3 as part of the BBC Radio 6 Music Festival, along with a date at the Barbican in London on April 7 with Britten Sinfonia conducted by Jules Buckley.
Following that, he has two gigs at New York City's Rainbow Room lined up for April 14, presented by Rough Trade Records and Rockefeller Center. Head here for details.
