Bright Eyes have released a cover of Elliott Smith's St Ides Heaven.
The rework of the 1995 track finds Connor Oberst and band juicing up the original song with an injection of charged electric guitars, more distortion, and a more thunderous rhythm. It also features singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers.
It'll appear on Bright Eyes' 'Letting Off the Happiness: A Companion EP', due out on May 27 via Dead Oceans. It follows news that the band are re-releasing their entire back catalogue, with a companion EP of new recordings accompanying each drop.
Bright Eyes' first three LPs — 'A Collection Of Songs Written And Recorded 1995-1997', 1998’s 'Letting Off The Happiness' and 2000 LP 'Fevers And Mirrors' — will arrive on the same May date.
Their last full-length was 2020's 'Down In The Weeds, Where the World Once Was'. They're about to hit the road in the United States, with rescheduled UK and European dates following in August and September.
Bright Eyes Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows
