Petrol Girls have announced their third album.
'Baby' was produced by Pete Miles and will arrive on June 24 via Hassle Records, following up 'Cut And Stitch', released in 2019.
The news comes with the latest taster of the record, Clowns, a driving, feisty track that's built around a razor-sharp guitar riff and vocalist Ren Aldridge's frenzied screams. It arrives with a live session video of the group performing the song at Middle Farm Studios, where the LP was recorded.
Clowns will be joined on the record by the previously unveiled tracks Baby, I Had An Abortion and the Bandcamp exclusive single Fight For Our Lives. Aldridge said:
"Clowns really showcases the vibe and musical direction of a lot of the record. It’s playful, a bit unhinged and built on a repetitive riff. It was so much fun to write together.
"I was like, wait a minute, I can actually just rewrite these lyrics and make them fit this with a political twist on it. It started off as a joke, but I do actually think there’s political weight to what I'm trying to say there."
'Baby' tracklist:
1. Scraps
2. Preachers
3. Feed My Fire
4. Baby, I Had An Abortion
5. Clowns
6. Unsettle
7. Fight For Our Lives (featuring Janey Starling)
8. Violent By Design
9. One Or The Other
10. Sick and Tired
11. Bones
