Drive-By Truckers have shared details of their 14th studio album.
Following the country-rock stalwarts' two 2020 albums, 'The Unraveling' and 'The New OK', 'Welcome 2 Club XIII' will arrive on June 3 via ATO Records.
Produced by longtime collaborator David Barbe, and mainly recorded live with most songs cut in one or two takes at his studio in Athens, Georgia. It's previewed by the title track, a homage to the venue where founding members Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley performed at the start of their careers. Hood said:
"There were no cool bars in town and Club XIII was the best we had, but it wasn’t all that good, and our band (Adam's House Cat) wasn’t particularly liked there. From time to time the owner would throw us a Wednesday night or let us open for a hair-metal band we were a terrible fit for, and everyone would hang out outside until we were done playing. It wasn’t very funny at the time, but it’s funny to us now."
It comes paired with a video directed by Jason Shevchuk. The record, meanwhile, also features background vocals from Margo Price, Schaefer Llana, and R.E.M.'s Mike Mills.
Drive-By Truckers are currently touring North America, with European dates scheduled for later in the spring. They also have rescheduled UK and European dates in the diary for the summer, followed by headline US shows and festival appearances.
