Alec John Such, the bassist and a founding member of Bon Jovi, has died aged 70.
The news was announced by Bon Jovi, who confirmed his passing via their social media in a tribute to the musician on Sunday, June 5. Details surrounding the cause of Such's death were not provided. A statement said:
"We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such. He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band. To be honest, we found our way to each other thru him. He was a childhood friend of Tico [Torres] and brought Richie [Sambora] to see us perform. Alec was always wild and full of life. Today those special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We'll miss him dearly."
The band followed up their statement with a video montage of archive photos and video clips of Such performing on stage over the years. Take a look below.
Such co-founded Bon Jovi in March 1983 alongside eponymous frontman Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, and drummer Tico Torres, with guitarist Richie Sambora joining shortly afterwards.
He performed on Bon Jovi's first five studio records, 'Bon Jovi', '7800° Fahrenheit', 'Slippery When Wet', 'New Jersey' and 'Keep the Faith'. He reunited with the group in 2018 when they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
