Pussy Riot have shared details of their debut mixtape.
'Matriarchy Now' will arrive through Neon Gold Records on August 5, and was executive produced by Tove Lo. It boasts collaborations with Hudson Mohawke, Big Freedia, Slayyyter, Phoebe Ryan, and American rapper iLoveMakonnen, who joins the Russian activists and art group on the single Plastic.
The satirical, pop-leaning track comes with a video directed by Haley Bowman, which sees the feminist collective represented as plastic dolls. Take a look at it below, alongside the album's cover artwork by Ksti Hu.
The record will arrive shortly before the 10th anniversary of their August 27, 2012, conviction for "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred", when Nadya Tolokonnikova and fellow activist and performer Maria Alyokhina were sentenced to two years in prison after staging a performance in a Moscow cathedral.
The news comes after Pussy Riot hung a 45-foot Matriarchy Now banner from the upper floors of the Texas State Capitol in protest of the stripping of reproductive rights in the United States.
