Blondie have unearthed a more than 40-year old bedroom demo.
Despite being newly mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Michael Graves at his own Osiris Studio in Los Angeles, 1978's Mr. Sightseer is still a pared back offering led by meandering guitar melodies that spotlights Debbie Harry's captivating vocals.
“The lyric is not good at all,” said Harry. “The song’s not too bad. It’s just a little simplistic. It didn’t ever get really developed or finished.”
The track forms the b-side to the band's recently shared cover of Moonlight Drive by The Doors, a rarity that will feature on their first archival project, 'Blondie: Against The Odds 1974-1982', which is due for release on August 26. It took Blondie six years to compile, restore, mix and remaster the collection.
The legendary band are currently on tour in the US and have shows lined up until the end of the month. Following that, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein have their rescheduled In Conversation dates inked in for November.
