Arctic Monkeys have announced their seventh studio album.
The follow-up to 2018's 'Tranquility Hotel Base & Casino' is called 'The Car' and will arrive on October 21 via Domino.
The Sheffield band, which comprises singer-guitarist Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook, and bassist Nick O’Malley, worked with producer James Ford on the 10-track LP. It was recorded in summer 2021 at Butley Priory in Suffolk, La Frette in Paris, and RAK Studios in London.
As a preview, the quartet played the track I Ain't Quite Where I Think I Am during their show at Zürich Openair, Switzerland last night (August 23), ahead of their headline performance at Reading Festival on August 27 and Leeds Festival on August 28.
Head below to view the record's tracklist and artwork, photographed by Helders. Speaking to The Big Issue, Turner said, "on this record, sci-fi is off the table. We are back to earth."
"I think we’ve got closer to a better version of a more dynamic overall sound with this record," he added. "The strings on this record come in and out of focus and that was a deliberate move and hopefully everything has its own space. There’s time the band comes to the front and then the strings come to the front."
Arctic Monkeys will also headline the inaugural Primavera Sound Los Angeles at Los Angeles State Historic Park in September.

1. There'd Better Be A Mirrorball
