Gorillaz have announced a new album.
'Cracker Island', the full-length follow-up to 2020's 'Song Machine: Season One – Strange Timez', is due for release on February 24 through Parlophone. It was recorded in London and Los Angeles earlier this year, and produced by eight-time Grammy Award-winner Greg Kurstin, Gorillaz and Remi Kabaka Jr.
We've already heard the title track featuring Thundercat, and the record also boasts collaborations with Stevie Nicks, Adeleye Omotayo, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, Bootie Brown and Beck.
Commenting on their new record, guitarist Noodle said: “Cracker Island is the sound of change and the chorus of the collective." Bassist Murdoc Niccals added:“The hallowed tones of Cracker Island will soundtrack our collective ascension into the new dimension! JOIN ME!”
Alongside the album's cover and tracklist, the band have shared another preview of the album in the form of New Gold featuring Tame Impala and Bootie Brown, which Gorillaz performed in public for the first time at their All Points East London show in August.
It's a funky, multi-faceted track that features falsetto vocals from Tame Impala's Kevin Parker on the chorus that complement Bootie Browns steady flow bars on the verse. Press play below.
