Pixies have shared a new single, Dregs Of The Wine.
The song is the latest preview of their new album, 'Doggerel', which is due for release on September 30. It follows previous cuts Vault Of Heaven and There's A Moon On.
The new track incorporates elements of classic, alternative and punk rock for a captivating three and a half minutes complete with earworm chorus. It was written by the band's guitarist Joey Santiago — his first writing credit — who said:
"I guess I was in kind of a zombie state, just playing. After I stopped playing I put it down and went, ‘Well, that was a fucking waste of time, what a piece of shit I am.’ I beat myself up a lot, but my girlfriend, unbeknownst to me, was recording me. She played it back to me and I go, ‘Fuck! Hold on a second here! This stuff is good!’”
After headlining last weekend's End Of The Road, the Boston band will return to the US for a run of dates in October. They'll also continue their Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa Tour in Australia and New Zealand in December.
