We Are Scientists Announce New Album 'Lobes', Confirm 2023 UK And Ireland Headline Tour

We Are Scientists have announced a UK and Ireland tour for 2023.
The New York indie-pop duo will call in Manchester, Belfast, Dublin, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Bristol, Birmingham, Nottingham, Southampton and London, where they'll play KOKO on March 3. Following the UK run, they'll head to mainland Europe for previously announced dates that run from late March to mid-April.
Tickets for the UK dates go on general sale at 10am on September 30, while tickets for their European performances are on sale now.
The news comes hot on the heels of their new single, Operator Error, which serves as the first preview of their newly announced eighth studio album, 'Lobes', due out on January 20 via 100% Records. Introducing it online, one half of the duo, vocalist and guitarist Keith Murray commented:
"'Lobes' is the name of a cereal of black spheres invented by Chris Cain (don't ask). Obviously, the record has little to do with breakfast, but I loved the associations that the word has with cerebral biology, and the evocation of sci-fi, and a sense of something both fundamentally human and utterly unknowable. The word "lobes" makes me think of the body horror films of David Cronenberg, but also of the chatty comedies of manners of Whit Stillman. I really love the reaction it evokes in people: everybody knows the word "lobes," but for whatever reason, being challenged to define it consistently scares them, or angers them, or makes them laugh, or makes them tell me to "shut up." What a great reaction to such a benign word. It's also pretty fun to say. Lobes."
