Gaz Coombes has announced his fourth solo album.
The Supergrass frontman will put out 'Turn The Car Around' on January 13 via Hot Fruit Recordings/Virgin Music. It was penned and recorded by the singer-songwriter at his studio in Oxfordshire, and serves as the final part of a trilogy that started with his 2015 full-length 'Matador'. Part two came in the form of 2018's 'World's Strongest Man'.
As a preview, Coombes has shared the new single Don't Say It's Over, a spiralling, groove-led track that sees the 46-year-old recalling the first night he met his future wife. He said:
"When I wrote Don't Say It's Over I had in mind wandering through some bustling holiday town at night, two people sharing strange and beautiful moments together. The feeling of love and all its complications. And the reality of a life without that love. It's basically saying (albeit with a few dark edges) 'my life is better with you in it'. I think this song is very much light and dark in equal measures. Those contradictions I find interesting and thought-provoking... and they make for cool, f*cked up love songs."
The song follows the first taster Sonny The Strong, which came out in June. Head below to view the accompanying Tom Cockram-directed video.
Coombes will perform the LP in full during an intimate show at London's Lafayette on November 3. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on October 5.
