Paul Weller has announced a London concert celebrating Sir Peter Blake.
The event celebrating the English pop artist, who next summer turns 90, will take over Royal Festival Hall at the Southbank Centre on December 2. Introducing the event, Weller said:
"We’re coming to celebrate this brilliant artist who has given us all so much for over 70 years! Thank you Peter!”
The show will feature a mix of acoustic and electric sets by a Paul Weller-curated line-up, including himself, Madness, Noel Gallagher, Roger Daltrey, Chrissie Hynde and Baxter Dury, with John Wilson of BBC Radio 4 compering. Tickets go on general sale from 9am on October 21.
Blake has had numerous solo exhibitions for his art around the world, and is also well known for creating the Beatles' album cover for 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band', as well as the sleeves for two of The Who's records, and the Live Aid concert poster, among others.
