Little Simz Wins Mercury Prize 2022 For 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert'

Little Simz has won the Mercury Prize 2022 for 'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert'.
Released in September 2021 through Age 101, the North London rapper fought off competition from Fergus McCreadie, Gwenno, Harry Styles, Jessie Buckley and Bernard Butler, Joy Crookes, Kojey Radical, Nova Twins, Sam Fender, Self Esteem, Wet Leg and Yard Act to succeed last year’s winner, Arlo Parks.
The winner was announced by Jamz Supernova during a live ceremony hosted by Lauren Laverne at London's Eventim Apollo this evening (October 18).
The judges were Anna Calvi, Annie Macmanus, Danielle Perry, Hazel Wilde, Jamie Cullum, Jamz Supernova, Lea Stonhill, Loyle Carner, Phil Alexander, Tshepo Mokoena, Will Hodgkinson and Jeff Smith, with Smith as The Chair of the panel.
The ceremony was originally due to take place on September 8, but was delayed due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
