Monotonía features Puerto Rican singer Ozuna and comes in the wake of the Hips Don't Lie singer's split from long-time boyfriend Gerard Piqué, which came after reports that the footballer had strayed.
Teasing the single earlier in October with a cryptic video on Instagram, the post showed a man's foot stepping on a bloody human heart on the ground. In the caption, she wrote in Spanish: "I never said anything but it hurt. I knew this would happen."
With impassioned Spanish lyrics and light, syncopated beats, the bachata track serves as the latest preview of her new but unannounced project, following April's collaboration with Rauw Alejandro, Te Felicito.
Head below to view the surreal accompanying video, which was filmed in Manresa, Spain. Co-directed by Shakira and Jaume de la Iguana, it finds the Colombian singer taking a bazooka rocket to the chest, and tending to her dispossessed heart.
Her last album came in the form of 2017's 'El Dorado'.
