Lift Me Up marks the singer's first new solo material since the release of her last album, 2016's 'Anti'. It is also the lead single from the 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and InspiredBy' original soundtrack.
The song is a tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who played T'Challa/Black Panther, the King Of Wakanda. It was written by Rihanna, Tems, Oscar-winner Ludwig Göransson and Ryan Coogler, the film's director.
The song is a departure from the club-ready pop and R&B tracks the Barbadian singer has put out previously, with Spanish guitar, keys and uplifting strings providing a rousing backdrop for her impassioned vocal performance.
'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Music From and Inspired By' soundtrack was produced by Coogler, Göransson, Archie Davis and Dave Jordan, and is out on November 4. 'The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - Original Score' was composed and produced by Göransson, and will follow on November 11.
The film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opens in US cinemas on November 11.
