The singer-songwriter and only child of Elvis Presley passed away on Thursday (January 12) after being hospitalised earlier that day, her mother Priscilla Presley shared:
"It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.
"She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known."
The news came just hours after Presley confirmed her daughter had been rushed to hospital. US media said she suffered a cardiac arrest.
Born in 1968, Lisa Marie Presley was nine years old when Elvis died at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee in 1977. She followed in her father's footsteps and forged a career in music, beginning with her 2003 debut LP 'To Whom It May Concern', followed by 2005's 'Now What', and a third album, 2012's 'Storm And Grace'.
She was married four times throughout her life, wedding pop icon Michael Jackson, actor Nicolas Cage, and musicians Danny Keough and Michael Lockwoood. She had four children, including the actress Riley Keough. Her son, Benjamin Keough, died in 2020.
Presley's death came just two days after she attended the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, which saw Austin Butler win Best Actor In A Drama Film for playing her father in the 2022 Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic Elvis.
Tributes have poured in from fans and friends around the world.
Utterly devastated to learn of the hideously premature death of a surprisingly sweet, fierce, generous, talented and painfully vulnerable Lisa Marie Presley.
I will treasure you always in my heart girl. Thank you for your kindness. May you now be granted peace. Sx
There is heartbreak and then there is sorrow. This would be sorrow and on more levels than I can count. Please send your prayers out for her family and children at this difficult time. I truly cannot find the words to express how sad this truly is. RIP @LisaPresleypic.twitter.com/Iac6b1gbIt
