The National have shared a new song, New Order T-Shirt.
It's the latest preview of their new album, 'First Two Pages of Frankenstein’, following previous cut Tropic Morning News. It's an acoustic-guitar led track that puts Matt Berninger's subdued storytelling at the forefront. Aaron Dessner said:
“To me the line ‘I keep what I can of you’ means something about everyone I’ve ever known or loved. There’s a simplicity to ‘New Order T-Shirt’ that reminds me of our earlier records, but with the full maturity and experience we have now. It feels like a really important song for the future of our band.”
Because of the song, The National have teamed up with New Order to create a limited edition t-shirt which you can purchase here. A portion of the proceeds will go to a charity of New Order's choice.
The follow-up to 2019's 'I Am Easy To Find' is due for release on April 28 via 4AD, and boasts guest appearances by Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers and Sufjan Stevens.
The National will support their new album with a summer North American tour, followed by an autumn arena run across Europe and the UK. The latter leg will include stops in Dublin, Leeds, Glasgow and London.
