Skindred Drop New Single Set Fazers

Wednesday, 22 March 2023 Written by Jon Stickler

Skindred have shared another preview of their upcoming eighth album.

Following Gimme That Boom, Set Fazers serves as the second taster of 'Smile', which is scheduled to arrive on August 4 via Earache Records.

Fusing metal, rock, reggae and dancehall to create their unmistakable ragga-metal sound, the track comes with a video featuring social media star Shin, who sparked a Skindred-focused TikTok dance craze in February. Singer Benji Webbe said:

"Star date 22.3.23: With this song we’re boldly going where no ragga-metal has gone before. We come in peace, L.O.V.E and unity, to bring Skindred’s outergalactic sound-system to the infinite expanse of the cosmos."

Drummer Arya Goggin added: "The idea with the Set Fazers video was to make a sci-fi meets dancehall epic! Through TikTok we met an amazing dancer called Shin (whose dance to our song Nobody went viral earlier this year) and he’s added his unique style to the video too. We had so much fun filming it and can’t wait to share it with everyone."

Skindred have a string of live dates scheduled for the spring and summer, including Portsmouth's Takedown Festival in April, and 2000trees in July. They'll also support KISS at the rock icons' final UK shows in June and July.
