Be Your Own Pet have released their first new music in 15 years.
Hand Grenade arrives via Jack White’s Third Man Records, and follows the Nashville band's reunion in 2022, which saw them play their first shows in over a decade.
The fuzzy, vital punk-rock single comes paired with a music video shot in singer Jemima Pearl Abegg's basement on an iPhone. She said:
"Hand Grenade started out as a threat to the people who harmed me, that I will make them suffer as I have suffered. But the song grew like a mirror to my own grief process, through anger, denial, sorrow. In the end, I gain my power back not through violence, but through self acceptance and rejection of the labels others might put on me. I define myself, no one else."
Be Your Own Pet's last release was 2008's 'Get Damaged' EP. They'll headline two nights at London's Moth Club in June, as well as appearing at Atlanta's Shaky Knees Music Festival, and Primavera Sound in Barcelona and Madrid.
Be Your Own Pet Upcoming Tour Dates are as follows
Tue June 06 2023 - LONDON Moth Club
Wed June 07 2023 - LONDON Moth Club
