Within Temptation are set to drop their eighth studio album this autumn.
The Dutch symphonic metallers will release 'Bleed Out' through Force Music Recordings on October 20, following up 2019's 'Resist'.
Tackling global injustices and the state of the world, the new record finds the band shifting their focus from songs based on personal experiences to material that makes a stand on issues that concern them. Vocalist Sharon den Adel explained:
"The war in Ukraine has influenced us a lot. As artists, we are inspired by the world, and we have this platform. We are storytellers, and I think as human beings, these are things we should be talking about."
Alongside the news, the group have shared the record's title track, which offers their familiar dark and atmospheric sound with soaring melodies, operatic vocals and big choruses. It was written about women's rights in Iran in the wake of Mahsa Amini's murder in 2022 after being arrested and beaten by the country's so-called morality police for not wearing a proper head covering.
"I lived in Yemen when I was a kid. My parents lived in several countries in the Middle East, and I’ve visited them a lot when they were there. It’s a different world," added the singer. "Due to my time there, I feel connected to that part of the world.
"I’ve been so incredibly impressed by the bravery of the young women there who’ve been burning their scarves knowing they were going to be thrown in prison or worse – it’s heartbreaking."
The song will be joined on the record by the previously unveiled cuts Wireless, Don’t Pray For Me, Shed My Skin, The Purge and Entertain You.
