Vince Clarke, co-founder of Erasure, Depeche Mode and Yazoo, has announced his debut solo album.

The 10-track instrumental record, titled 'Songs Of Silence', was recorded at Clarke's home studio in New York and will arrive through Mute on November 17.

The project started life during the COVID-19 lockdown, with Ivor Novello Award-winning artist experimenting with the Eurorack modular synthesizer. It was built with two rules – each song would be composed on the Eurorack, and each track would stay within a single key.

As a preview, check out the first single, The Lamentations Of Jeremiah, a dark, ominous composition which comes paired with a black and white video directed by Ebru Yildiz. He said:

"When I first heard the song, I felt like it contained a whole lifetime within itself. All of the drama and peace, anxiousness and calmness, tension and hope, and everything in between. I wanted the visuals to feel like all those extremes as well."

Erasure, meanwhile, released their most recent album, 'The Neon', in 2020, which was followed by a companion release, 'Day-Glo (Based On A True Story)', in 2022.

'Songs Of Silence' tracklist:

1. Cathedral
2. White Rabbit
3. Passage
4. Imminent
5. Red Planet
6. The Lamentations of Jeremiah
7. Mitosis
8. Blackleg
9. Scarper
10. Last Transmission
