Bombay Bicycle Club have shared another single from their upcoming sixth album.
The folky Turn The World On will feature on 'My Big Day' alongside the previously released cuts I Want To Be Your Only Pet, Diving with Holly Humberstone, and the title track. Offering some of the band's most personal lyrics to date, it finds vocalist Jack Steadman reflecting on becoming a parent for the first time. The band commented:
"Turn The World On is the last song Jack wrote for the album and also the most personal. Some of us became parents for the first time when we were writing and recording over the last couple of years and Turn The World On is a reflection on becoming a parent and the hopefulness of youth. To capture the spirit of the song, we tried to recreate Jack's childhood bedroom for the video."
The follow-up to 2020's 'Everything Else Has Gone Wrong' will arrive on October 20 and also boasts appearances by Damon Albarn, Jay Som, Nilüfer Yanya and another soon to be announced special guest.
Today, the band have also announced four intimate acoustic shows at unique venues in association with Sofar Sounds for later in September. Specific details remain under wraps, but we know they'll take place in Cardiff, Leeds, London and Brighton.
Fans can enter a competition to win a free pair of tickets for the preferred secret show when pre-ordering the new record from participating independent record shops within each city: Spillers Records in Cardiff, Crash Records in Leeds, Resident Records in Brighton and Flashback Records in London. Head here for more information.
They also have a UK tour in the diary for October. Following that, they'll play shows across mainland Europe in November.
