Madness have announced their 13th studio album.
'Theatre Of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie' will arrive through BMG on November 17, following up 2016's 'Can’t Touch Us Now' and 2022's 'The Get Up!', their soundtrack album for a livestream from the London Palladium in 2021.
The new record marks the British ska-pop legends' first venture into self producing, working Matt Galsbey who handled engineering and mixing. The band commented:
"Well, well, well, here we are.. Our thirteenth album (lucky for some) 'Theatre Of the Absurd Presents C’Est La Vie' is ready for your ears. For us, recording it was the perfect antidote to the chaos of the past few years - we were all there, properly in the zone. It was just us, in an industrial unit in Cricklewood, playing together. We loved it!"
As a taster of what's to come, the group have shared the lead single, C'Est La Vie, which reflects on the struggles of everyday life. Infectious, with a prominent surfy guitar hook and horn section, it's a classic nutty boys' arrangement. According to songwriter and keyboardist Mike 'Barso' Barson, it's "about these crazy times we’re living in, and how I just want to stay on my boat and not be a part of all this madness. But of course, I’m a member of a group called Madness. Perhaps we should have called ourselves 'Sanity'…"
Madness previously announced shows for their winter C’est La Vie UK Tour, which will see them performing at arena venues with special guests The Lightning Seeds. Tickets are on sale.
