Atreyu have announced their ninth studio album.
'The Beautiful Dark Of Life' is a 15-track double LP that serves as the culmination of the California metalcore band's three 2023 EPs; spring's 'The Hope Of A Spark', summer's 'The Moment You Find Your Flame' and autumn's 'A Torch In The Dark'. Frontman Brandon Saller commented:
"'The Beautiful Dark Of Life' is the journey we are all on. It is the journey we have taken the audience on through the three EPs: the highs, lows, and lessons of life. And much like living through them, you don’t gain a full understanding of what it all means without the whole picture. This album is that picture."
Bassist Porter McKnight added: "We wanted each EP to have its own space to exist, for every song to find its audience and connect with people in its own right. But then when those songs are later collected together in the shape of the album, it will be an 'A-ha!' moment where we hope people will rediscover them in a new light, and find something in them all over again."
The follow-up to 2021's 'Baptize' LP is due to arrive on December 8 via Spinefarm. As a preview, head below to stream the new track Forevermore, a love song that offers a moving, lighter sound compared to the rest of the band's discography.
Saller said of the record's title: "I was walking with my young daughter one day when we went under a bridge. She pointed at something and said, ‘Daddy, what’s that?’ I told her, ‘That’s a shadow, honey.’ And she turned to me and said, ‘Shadows are the beautiful dark of life'."
McKnight continued: "These songs are the culmination of our entire artistic endeavours. It’s everything we’ve learned as humans, everything we've ingested as musicians and everything we've experienced in this lifetime. It is Atreyu unleashed."
The band will continue the UK and Ireland leg of their We Want Your Skulls World Tour with a show in Belfast tonight (November 13). Later in November, they'll head across Europe, with dates running through to mid-December.
They'll also return to Australia in February for the first time since 2020, with gigs lined up in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
