Rick Astley is to perform as part of the BBC's televised New Year’s Eve celebrations.

The event will be broadcast to viewers from London's Roundhouse, with the singer set to be joined on stage by a number of special guests, though they're still to be announced.

The live concert will be recorded at the iconic Camden venue on December 12, with tickets for the show on general sale at 9am tomorrow (November 14). Astley said:

"What an honour it is to host the New Year's Eve celebration on BBC One this year! It’s always been part of my New Year's ritual to watch the show and take in the amazing fireworks, so to be part of it this year is fantastic! Here’s to a great night."

A statement from the BBC reads: "Performing his global hits and some surprise numbers, Rick and his all-star guests will party right into 2024. This one-off TV recording of Rick Astley Rocks New Year’s Eve…for BBC One will be a night to remember. The festivities will continue after BBC One goes live to London for the traditional epic fireworks display."

Head of BBC Pop Music TV, Jonathan Rothery added: "Our annual New Year’s Eve performances on BBC One are about bringing some of the biggest names in music to people’s homes, wherever they are in the UK…I’m so pleased to be able to announce that Rick Astley – who has had a fantastic 2023 so far – will be soundtracking the celebrations this year. It’s a brilliant way to round off another fantastic year of live performances on the BBC."

Previous New Year's Rocks acts include Years & Years, Alicia Keys, Craig David, and Sam Ryder, who performed last year.

The Never Gonna Give You Up singer will embark on his Are We There Yet? Tour early in 2024, with arena shows lined up around the UK and Europe in February and March. The trek shares its name with his new album, which was released in October.

He'll also celebrate the new record with a special set at Pryzm, Kingston on December 1, following an appearance alongside Simply Red, Emeli Sandé and Texas at Magic Of Christmas at the London Palladium on November 25. Tickets are already on sale.
