The nominations for the 2024 MOBO Awards have been revealed.
Leading the way with four nominations each are Mercury Prize-winner Little Simz and South London grime star Stormzy. The pair will go up against each other for Album of the Year and Video of the Year, with the former also up for Best Female Act and Best Hip Hop Act. The latter is also in the running for Best Male and Song Of The Year.
Meanwhile, Central Cee, Pinkpantheress, J Hus and Raye will battle it out with three nods each. Raye and PinkPantheress will face off against Little Simz for Best Female. The two also have nods for Song Of The Year.
Central Cee's hit Sprinter and Who Told You by J Hus are also nominated in the Song Of The Year category, with the rap heavyweights also in the running for Best Male Act.
J Hus' 'Beautiful and Brutal Yard' and Raye's 'My 21st Century Blues' are also nominated for Album of the Year.
The awards, which have celebrated music of black origin since 1996, will take place for the first time in Sheffield next year, at the Utilita Arena on February 7. Tickets are on sale now. MOBO Founder Kanya King CBE said:
"We are proud to champion this year’s incredible line-up of nominees for the 26th MOBO Awards, who have all brought stellar music and content to our attention through their remarkable work in music, film, TV, online and more. Since 1996, we've celebrated Black music and culture, breaking new ground and leading the way, seeing MOBO evolve and innovate to champion outstanding talent beyond music. This year’s nominees not only represent the best of their genre and art form and an incredible year of music, but also continue our dedication to sustaining an inclusive ecosystem where diverse talent is both recognised and empowered to thrive.
"With the advancement of our MOBO UnSung talent programme and career development platform MOBOLISE, we are ready and excited to take our pioneer status to the next level, to celebrate and recognise the vast contributions of trailblazing musicians and cultural heroes, in a way that only MOBO can. See you on February 7th!"
