Chaka Khan will curate the 2024 edition of Meltdown Festival.
The event will return to the Southbank Centre in London for 10 days this summer, with the music legend set to celebrate 50 years of her career. She said:
"Get ready to experience the heart and soul of Meltdown 2024, where the magic of music meets the warmth of community. I'm beyond excited to be a part of this legacy, bringing everyone together, young and old, for a summer celebration like no other. This festival isn't just about music, it's a feast for all your senses, a gathering of hearts and souls."
The Queen Of Funk follows in the footsteps of previous curators Héloïse Letissier, Grace Jones, Nile Rodgers, Robert Smith, M.I.A., Patti Smith, Nick Cave, Yoko Ono, David Byrne, Massive Attack and Ornette Coleman.
Meltdown Festival will host a mix of ticketed shows and free outdoor concerts between June 14 and 23. The first names for the 29th instalment, as well as ticket details, will be unveiled in the spring.
