Travis have shared a new single called Raze The Bar.
The song, which features additional vocals from Coldplay's Chris Martin and The Killers' Brandon Flowers, serves as the second preview of the multi-Brit Award and Ivor Novello-winning band's new album, 'L.A. Times', due out on July 12. It follows the first single, Gaslight
Guided by frontman Fran Healy's storytelling lyrics, the laid-back track is an imagining of the final night at New York's iconic Black & White Bar, a haunt for the Scottish band and local creatives around Greenwich Village, which was forced to close due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Healy said:
"There was a great bar in New York City. It didn’t have a name but everyone called it Black and White on account of the black and white striped awning that hung over the entrance. They had poetry nights, great DJs, open mic nights. If you played a show at Irving Plaza or Webster Hall, chances are you ended up at Black and White till the wee small hours. One of the owners, Johnny T, looked after so many artists and bands over the years. If that bar could talk, what a story it would tell."
Travis will support The Killers on their UK arena tour this summer. They'll also top the bill at Sign Of The Times Festival in Hertfordshire in July. Tickets are on sale now.
