Nada Surf’s have announced their first album in four years.

Details of 'Moon Mirror', due out on September 13, arrive alongside news that the New York indie-rockers have signed to New West Records.

Recorded at the famous Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire, Wales, and co-produced by the band and Ian Laughton, the LP will tie-in with the 30th anniversary of Nada Surf's debut single, The Plan/Telescope.

As a preview, they've shared the record's first single, In Front of Me Now, a soaring, guitar-pop track that comes paired with a video directed by Joshua Britt and Neilson Hubbard. Frontman Matthew Caws said:

"Every time we make an album, I’m asked (and ask myself) what it’s about. I never know how to answer that question. I’m still trying to figure everything out, and that’s probably as close to a theme as there is. Looking back over the years, I know what our songs are about in theory: trying to reach acceptance (of circumstances, of oneself, of others), connection, a constant search for possibility and the bright side, a willingness to change, forgiveness, curiosity, checking in with one’s mortality, motivations and judgements, etc. But in the moment when making one up, I have no idea what I’m doing and maybe that’s OK. I’m just trying to stay honest with myself and take my best guess at making sense of the world."

Commenting on their new label, he added: "We’ve been lucky to be on some really wonderful record labels over the years, and so far New West sure feels like another one of those. We couldn’t be more fortunate."

Nada Surf will tour North America throughout October, with support from New Zealand labelmates Office Dog. Following that, they'll play dates in Europe and the UK in November and December.

Tickets for the UK and European gigs are on sale now, with the Stateside shows on general sale at 10am local time on Friday (May 17).
