Nilüfer Yanya Announces Third Album 'My Method Actor'

Nilüfer Yanya has laid out plans for her third album.
The follow-up to 2022's 'Painless' is titled 'My Method Actor' and will arrive through the London singer-songwriter's new label home Ninja Tune on September 13.
A collaboration with creative partner Wilma Archer, it was written and recorded in London, Wales and Eastbourne, and includes Yanya's recent single Like I Say (I Runaway), as well as the newly shared Method Actor.
Offering contrasting dreamy melodic synths and scuzzy guitars, the dynamic pop-rock song lands with a one-take video shot in Benidorm, which finds Yanya sitting down to share her story. On working with Archer, she explained in a statement:
"This is the most intense album, in that respect. Because it’s only been us two. We didn’t let anyone else into the bubble."
"I was researching method acting - and from what I read, it’s based on finding this one memory in your life, a life-altering, life-changing memory," she added. "The reason why some people find method acting traumatic and maybe not safe mentally, is because you're always going back to that moment. It can be good or bad but you're always feeding off the energy, something that's defined you - and that's what helps you become the character. It’s a bit like being a musician. When you’re performing, you’re still trying to invoke the energy and emotion of when you first wrote it, in that moment. It definitely feels like you're having to recreate or step into that headspace."
The 29-year-old will support the LP with UK shows in Brighton, Bristol, London, Nottingham and Manchester as part of her autumn European tour. Tickets are on sale.
