Joyce Announce Debut Album 'Voyce'

Wednesday, 17 July 2024 Written by Stereoboard

Joyce have announced their debut album.

The new project from former Great Britain olympic athlete Jimmy Watkins, who you may recognise from previously playing with Future Of The Left, fronting The Vega Bodegas, or as the co-founder of the running community Running Punks, will release 'Voyce' on September 13 via Human Worth. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to charity.

Produced by Thom Edward of God Damn at KK's Steel Mill in Wolverhampton, the record features contributions from Phil Thornalley of The Cure, Joe Hicklin of Big Special, Gwenllian Anthony from Adwaith, and Paul Broome of Fauxchisels.

Across 13 tracks the LP offers a large array of sounds, from buoyant indie-pop to contemplative spoken word and abrasive noise-rock. It's previewed by the track Foreword By Michael Sheen, a kaleidoscopic fusion of musical influences. The previously released Deja Vu also features on the tracklist.

Joyce will celebrate the LP's release in the autumn with a tour of the US, where a ProgressFilm-produced documentary about Watkins' life is also set to be filmed.
