Joan As Police Woman has shared another early single from her 10th studio album.
Following on from Long For Ruin, Back Again serves as the second preview of 'Lemons, Limes & Orchids', which is due out on September 20 via PIAS.
Blending soul, funk and pop with prog-rock elements, the track is inspired by the music of Motown legends Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye, and lyrically explores the reconciliation of a romantic relationship. Joan Wasser, aka JAPW, said:
"Songs come through me like diary entries. This entry fuses the optimism of a pop song with the words of a ballad, just like many of the great Motown songs did. What better angle to persuade someone to return?"
Wasser will accompany the record's release with a UK and European tour in the autumn, which includes a show at London's Union Chapel on October 9 and a date in Cardiff as part of Llais festival on October 11. Tickets are on sale now.
