Alessia Cara Returns With New Single Dead Man

Monday, 22 July 2024 Written by Jon Stickler

Alessia Cara is back with a new single called Dead Man.

The jazz-influenced pop track unfurls across the Grammy Award-winning singer's smoky, soulful vocals that tell a turbulent love story. Cara said:

"The song is about a relationship that has come to an end and is like the last final grasp of trying to hold onto what is left of this relationship. Basically, looking at the other person and metaphorically shaking them and saying 'I am really trying my best to hold here, but if you don’t want to be held onto then there’s nothing left of this'. I feel like I am talking to a dead man."

Written by Cara and produced by Mike Elizondo, it marks the Canadian singer-songwriter's first release since 2022, and heralds the start of an ambitious new era, with the announcement of her fourth studio album coming soon. Head below to view the unnerving, David Lynch-esque music video, directed by George Gallardo Kattah.

Cara's latest album is 2021's 'In The Meantime'.
