Stevie Nicks Shares New Single The Lighthouse

Friday, 27 September 2024 Written by Jon Stickler

Stevie Nicks has released a new song, The Lighthouse.

The politically-charged rocker was written during the months that followed the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and serves as a rallying cry for the reinstatement of rights.

The legendary singer-songwriter and Fleetwood Mac frontwoman is joined on the track by Sheryl Crow on guitar, bass and backing vocals, with Crow also handling production with Dave Cobb. Head below to view the song's equally powerful accompanying video. Nicks explained in a statement:

"It seemed like overnight, people were saying, ‘what can we, as a collective force, do about this…’ For me, it was to write a song. It took a while because I was on the road. Then early one morning I was watching the news on TV and a certain newscaster said something that felt like she was talking to me — explaining what the loss of Roe v. Wade would come to mean. I wrote the song the next morning and recorded it that night."

"I have often said to myself, ‘This may be the most important thing I ever do,’" she continued. "To stand up for the women of the United States and their daughters and granddaughters — and the men that love them. This is an anthem."

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer will perform at Hersheypark Stadium, Pennsylvania tomorrow (September 28), and co-headline Detroit's Ford Field on March 29 with Billy Joel. Tickets for the new spring date go on general sale at 9am local time next Friday (October 4).

In an interview with Mojo in June, Nicks revealed that she's currently working on the follow-up to her 2011 studio album 'In Your Dreams'.
