Man/Woman/Chainsaw have released a new single, The Boss.
Following on from their summer singles Grow A Tongue In Time and Ode To Clio, the track finds the buzzy London-based band continuing to experiment with a range of genres, fusing orchestral elements with pop and punk energy. All three will feature on the innovative group's debut EP, 'Eazy Peazy', which is due out on November 8 through Fat Possum Records, who they've recently signed with. The band said:
"The Boss is the heaviest of the songs on the EP and definitely a live favourite of ours. We wanted to express our frustration with imbalanced power dynamics in our everyday lives with a big supermassive rant of a rock song.
"In the writing process it began as a more standard punk tune until Emmie and Clio spontaneously improvised their interlocking violin/synth line that totally changed the direction of the song.
"Working in the studio with Dan Fox of Gilla Band was fun and allowed us to experiment with getting the song to sound as spacey as we could get it - we particularly enjoyed recording the electric violin through guitar amps cranked to 10 while simultaneously manipulating a tape delay unit."
Man/Woman/Chainsaw will accompany the EP's release with a run of UK shows, which includes a Halloween gig at London's 100 Club, a date in Hebden Bridge supporting Dream Wife, and an appearance at Brighton's Mutations Festival. They'll also hit the road for a headline UK tour in February 2025, marking their biggest headline run to date.
