Rachel Chinouriri Releases New Single Even Featuring Cat Burns

Rachel Chinouriri has teamed up with Cat Burns for a new single, Even.
The emotive indie-pop track addresses the barriers and double standards often experienced by black women in the music industry, with the two collaborators and friends drawing from shared personal experiences.
Having first met at the BRIT School in South London, the two breakout artists said of the meaning behind the track:
"Even is about the injustice black and POC people feel with identity in a world that can treat them foreign. Sometimes it feels like no matter what we do to fit in, we have to work twice as hard to take one step forward.
"The limitations that black people have had to go through are something every black person has to accept at some point but this song questions how far we need to take it and it questions why these things happen to us."
Burns continued: "I felt honoured when Rachel asked me to jump on this beautiful song, it felt real and authentic because we genuinely have supported each other since we were in school together! I hope people listen to our hearts with this one and understand our experience even more."
The pair have also linked up on an accompanying podcast mini-series, which sees them talking about experiences they've shared. Take a look below.
Even marks Chinouriri's first new music since her debut album, 'What A Devastating Turn Of Events', was released back in May. She'll support it with a previously scheduled UK tour in November, before supporting Sabrina Carpenter on the UK and European leg of her Short N’ Sweet Tour in 2025.
Cat Burns, meanwhile, released her Mercury Prize-nominated first album, 'Early Twenties', in July, which she'll support with a run of UK and European shows later this month. Tickets are on sale now.
