Olly Alexander has released a new single.
Archangel is the latest preview of his new album, 'Polari', which is due out on February 7. The '80s electro-pop-influenced pop song follows the previously shared title track, as well as the singles Cupid's Bow and Dizzy. Explaining its inspiration, the English singer and actor said:
“This is a song about how an angel saved me at my darkest moment, I don’t mean a mythical angel (or do I?) but rather someone in my life who picked me up when I was down. I’m really grateful to him, and to all the other angels (divine and non divine) who I’ve encountered along the way.
"I loved making this song with my musical partner Danny L Harle, our goal was to create something that sounded eternally optimistic, redemptive and like anything is possible. This is such a special song for me and I’m really happy to be putting it out and to show another side to Polari.”
The former frontman of Years and Years, who went solo in 2021 and more recently started releasing music under his own name, will support his new record with the Up Close and Polari Tour of the UK and Europe next spring. Tickets are on sale now.
