AJ Tracey has shared a new single, Crush.
The clubby track offers UK garage elements and finds the West London rapper reuniting with British vocalist Jorja Smith, who he's collaborated with on several occasions over the years.
Led by Tracey's confident flow and Smith's soulful tones, it follows Tracey's 2024 singles Heaterz with Pozer, Bubble Bath, and Joga Bonito. Despite the new material, though, there's still no details on a follow-up to his last full-length release, 2021's 'Flu Game'. Tracey said:
"This track Crush is really important to me, it's a re-uniting of me and my good friend who also happens to be my favourite singer, on a British sonic that perfectly represents both of us. This song sounds like the feeling I used to get in secondary school when I fancied a girl, rushing home to call them on my old Nokia, sharing MP3s we think each other would like, and talking all night on MSN. It's a UK ting!"
"This tune just takes me back," Smith added. "It feels young but also brand new. Makes me feel how I did when I first started dropping music, makes me think of getting on the bus to school, makes me think of summer in the 2000’s - all types of feelings!"
Smith will embark on the North American leg of her Falling Or Flying Tour next week, with UK and Ireland dates following in the summer. Head here for tickets. The trek shares its name with her 2023 album. More recently, she joined Canadian rising artist Skiifall on his January single Her World and that same month put out an acousic version of her own single High.
Smith is nominated at this year's MOBO Awards in the Best Female Act, Album Of The Year, and Best R&B/Soul Act categories. Head here for a full list of nominations.
