Sam Fender Posts New Single Remember My Name Ahead Of 'People Watching' Release

Sam Fender has shared a new song, Remember My Name.
The emotive ballad is dedicated to his grandparents, and marks the latest preview of the North Shields artist's new album, 'People Watching', due out this Friday (February 21).
It's the fourth single from the record, following previously releases Arm's Length, Wild Long Lie and the title track, and arrives with a powerful Hector Dockrill-directed video featuring I, Daniel Blake actor Dave Johns. Fender commented:
"Remember My Name is a love song dedicated to my late Grandparents – they were always so fiercely proud of our family so I wrote the song in honour of them, from the perspective of my Grandad who was looking after my Grandma when she was suffering from dementia. The video is a really special one for me, I’d like to thank everyone involved."
Fender recently announced major UK shows for the summer. He'll play Manchester's Wythenshawe Park on August 16, Edinburgh's Royal Highland Showgrounds on August 22 for the city's Summer Sessions, and Belfast's Boucher Road Playing Fields on August 28 as part of the Belfast Vital series.
For his gigs in Manchester and Edinburgh, Fender will be joined on the bill by Olivia Dean, with CMAT supporting in Belfast. Further names for each support bill are still to be revealed. Head here for more details. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday (February 21).
The dates are part of his People Watching Tour, which heads to Europe and North America in the coming months, before his biggest headline performance to date at London Stadium, and three hometown shows in Newcastle, in June. Tickets for those dates are on sale now, and £1 from every ticket will be donated to the Music Venue Trust in support of grassroots venues.
Fender was recently announced as the first headliner for BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend, which will take over Sefton Park in Liverpool in May.
In January, he was nominated for two BRIT Awards; Artist Of The Year and Alternative/Rock Act. Head here for a full list of nominations. The BRIT Awards ceremony will take place on March 1 at the O2 Arena in London.
He has also been confirmed as the ambassador for this year's Record Store Day UK, which takes place on April 12.
