Mumford And Sons have shared a new single, Malibu.
Offering their signature vocal harmonies, the song swells from a sparse, strummed acoustic introduction to a layered, rousing crescendo. It serves as the opening track from the London band's new album, 'Rushmere', which out on March 28 via Island EMI Group/Glassnote. Vocalist Marcus Mumford commented:
"Malibu was the first song we wrote when we got back together in Los Angeles in January 2023. The song just felt like us, and the process of recording it with Dave [Cobb] captured it on record in a way that made us feel it had to open 'Rushmere'. We love it."
It'll be joined on the 10-song record by the title track, which arrived last month accompanied by a video.
Earlier in February, the trio scheduled low-key shows in Europe, the UK, Australia and North America for March. The dates, which include a performance at London's O2 Forum Kentish Town on March 11, will mark their first run of headline gigs in the UK and Europe since 2018.
The group's previous studio album was 2018's 'Delta', though they released the digital-only live compilation 'Gentlemen Of The Road' in 2024. Mumford also dropped his debut solo album, (self-titled), in 2022.
