Black Country, New Road have released a new single, Happy Birthday.
It serves as the second preview of the band's new album, 'Forever Howlong', following lead single Besties, which arrived alongside initial details of the record in January.
The follow-up to 2022's 'Ants From Up There' is produced by James Ford and finds the group splitting vocal and songwriting duties between their three female members, bassist Tyler Hyde, violinist/mandolin player Georgia Ellery and keyboardist May Kershaw. Hyde said:
"When I wrote Happy Birthday I had Georgia’s song Besties in my head while I was writing it. Therefore, the structure of it is heavily influenced by it."
Offering a similar joyful, upbeat sound to Besties, with the usual baroque and chamber pop influences, it arrives with a stop-motion video directed by Lesley-Anne Rose.
In addition to the new music, the group have announced an intimate run of UK shows between April 7 and 13, which will see them perform the new album in its entirety following its release through Ninja Tune on April 4. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on Thursday (March 6).
The new dates will precede their previously scheduled US shows in May, and their UK and European dates in the summer and autumn. Tickets for those gigs are on sale now.
