Led by Amy Lee's powerful, ethereal vocals, the dramatic alt-metal track was co-written by Lee with Alex "Mako" Seaver, and co-produced by Seaver and Nick Raskulinecz. An alternate version of the song will feature heavily throughout the upcoming animated series, Devil May Cry, an adaptation of the popular video game, which hits Netflix on April 3.
The series' accompanying soundtrack album also includes Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach and will arrive the same day.
Afterlife marks Evanescence's first release since their 2021 fifth album, 'The Bitter Truth'. The band are currently working on the follow-up, and are, "happily, deeply in the creative process", Lee revealed during a new interview with Loudwire.
Evanescence have a number of shows scheduled throughout the year, including dates supporting Halsey in Los Angeles on May 14, and My Chemical Romance in Tampa on September 13, and an appearance at Louder Than Life in Louisville, Kentucky on September 21. They'll also support Metallica at shows in Australia and New Zealand in November. Tickets are on sale now.
